📥 What We Collect
SafetyLever only asks for what the forecast actually needs:

| Debt info | Debts you enter for the snowball planner, plus any extra payment amount |
| Feedback | Name, email, and message, only if you use the feedback form — name and email are optional there |
We don't ask for your bank login, your Social Security number, or any government ID. There's no bank-account linking anywhere in the app — every number in your forecast is one you typed in yourself.
⚙️ How We Use It
Your data is used for exactly one purpose: making SafetyLever work for you.
- Building and updating your 12-month balance forecast
- Running the debt snowball calculation
- Keeping you logged in between visits
- Responding to feedback or support requests you send us
We don't use your financial data to build advertising profiles, and we don't run it through any marketing or analytics platform that repackages it for other purposes.
🔐 Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a database that only the application can access. Passwords are never stored in plain text — they're run through a one-way hashing algorithm before saving, so even we can't see your actual password.
Access to your budget, bills, and debt data requires being logged into your specific account. There's no shared or public view of anyone's financial details.
No system is perfectly unbreakable, and we can't guarantee absolute security — but we don't do anything to your data beyond what's needed to run the forecast, which limits what there is to protect.
🍪 Cookies & Sessions
SafetyLever uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in while you use the app. It's set with security options (like HttpOnly) that make it harder for scripts on other sites to read it.
We also use your browser's local storage to remember your light/dark theme preference. That preference stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
🚫 Sharing
We don't sell your data. We don't rent it. We don't share it with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else looking to build a profile on you.
The only situations where your information might leave our systems:
- Service providers — like our hosting provider, who stores the database, and our email service, used only to send account-related or feedback-reply emails
- Legal requirements — if we're required to disclose information by law, we will do only what's legally required
🗂️ Retention & Deletion
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists, so your forecast stays accurate and available whenever you log back in.
Want your account and data removed? Send a request through the Feedback form. Self-service account deletion isn't built into the app yet, but we'll handle removal requests manually.
✅ Your Choices
- You can edit or remove any bill, expense, income entry, or debt at any time from within the app
- You can log out at any point, which ends your session immediately
- You can request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it by reaching out through Feedback
- Providing a name or email on the feedback form is entirely optional
🧒 Children
SafetyLever isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us through Feedback and we'll remove it.
📝 Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes affecting how your data is used will be communicated clearly rather than buried in fine print.
